Exploring Our Creativity

There Are Endless Ways to Be Creative

It’s a new year and it’s time to get creative! We spoke before of the fears that keep us from delving into artistic endeavours but sometimes it’s just a matter of not knowing where to begin.

Step 1: take stock of your current creative life. Do you currently have a creative outlet in your life? If no, why not? If yes, what is it? Do you fully enjoy it or do you need to introduce something new? Was there something you really enjoyed doing in the past but it is no longer a part of your life?

Step 2: brainstorm what you want to do. What artistic projects have caught your attention recently? What creative things have you wanted to try in the past, but haven’t? Is anyone around you doing something that inspires you?

Step 3: yep you guessed it, PICK SOMETHING AND DO IT! I don’t think that prompting questions are really required for this one but you might want to consider things such as your time vs. the scope of what you want to do as well as your ability to access the required resources for the project. Simply put, pick one of the more manageable things from your brainstorming list so that you have the greatest chance of success. Once you’re back in the groove, you’ll be encouraged to take on bigger projects and truly flex that creative muscle!

At the beginning of this episode, I share the crazy list of professional and non-professional creative things that I’ve tackled to date. Check it out and see if there is anything in there that you’re interested in. Remember, it starts with baby-steps, so take one towards your own creativity!
